Cartier Must de Cartier Sterling Silver & Gold Pill Box – 1989
A wonderfully chic and increasingly collectible vintage Cartier pill box, dating to 1989 and belonging to the celebrated Must de Cartier collection.
Crafted in 925 sterling silver, the tactile case is decorated with Cartier’s distinctive vertical godron fluting, creating alternating polished ribs that catch the light beautifully. Three sweeping gold-finished vermeil bands, evocative of Cartier’s iconic Trinity design language, wrap elegantly around the upper section — a quintessentially Cartier combination of silver and gold.
Discreetly set into the end of the case is the signature gold plaque inscribed “must de Cartier”, while the underside is comprehensively marked © CARTIER 1989, SWISS MADE and individually numbered 003288, together with the appropriate silver fineness and maker’s marks.
Opening to reveal its concealed compartment, this beautifully engineered little objet is a superb example of the luxurious personal accessories for which Cartier became renowned during the 1980s.
At 35 grams, it has a pleasing weight in the hand and remains in excellent vintage condition, displaying only the light surface wear expected of an original piece approaching four decades old.
Both functional and wonderfully decorative, this is a charming piece of 1980s Cartier design — equally suited to use as intended or simply collected as a beautifully made objet de vertu from one of the world's great maisons.
